The Official UT Athletics Release of our 2024 Volleyball schedule*****on Texasports.Com 06/21/24...........
Non Conference confirmed by the Official UT Volleyball Website:
Opening the 2024 season in the College Volleyball Showcase in Milwaukee, Wi. (4 teams are UT, Wisc., Minn., Stanford) We draw Wisconsin on Sun. 09/01/24 (Fox) and Minn. on Monday (FS1) 09/02/24...all matches will be played at the NBA Milwakee Bucks Arena.....
Hosting Indiana Thursday 09/05/24 at Gregory......Saturday 09/07/24 Miami (Fl.) at Gregory......Wednesday 09/11/24 Houston at Gregory........Sunday 09/15/24 Stanford at Palo Alto.......Wednesday 09/18/24 Baylor at Waco.......Saturday 09/20/24 Hawaii at Gregory........Total Eight Non Conference Matches.......
7 of 8 of our 2024 Non Con Opponents (only Indiana did not) made the 2023 NCAA VBall Tournament..and all seven won their opening 2023 NCAA Tournament Match.......Four were ranked at season's end in the 2023 Final AVCA Poll Ranking as follows: Wisconsin #3, Houston #21, Stanford #5, Baylor #23.....With a HC coaching retirement/new coach-players portalling, Minnesota missed the Final Rankings for the first time since 2014....Hugh McCutchen had Minn. in the season ending Final AVCA Top Ten every season 2015-2022, so it's seems easy to say, Minny'll be fully back soon, and a load for us in 2024.....plus they have the Top Rated recruiting class arriving on campus this fall.....Just your typical rough and tough/challenging Jerritt Elliott non conference schedule with all 8 matches providing high quality RPI potential...with a built in heavy strength of schedule component
SEC.....16 Game Conference Schedule.......15 SEC schools currently have volleyball teams...We will play a match against every (14) SEC Team 1 time.......and TWO teams twice (TAM, OU) in 2024..........FYI Next year (2025) Vandy will begin sponsoring a volleyball program and they will begin SEC Play in 2025....as the 16th SEC Team.....Vandy's Vball addition may also tie in to a prior SEC Release from 2022, that the SEC will sponsor an SEC Volleyball (auto bid) Championship Tournament by 2025......NO SEC VB Tourney for this season/2024-only regular season league play-16 games
****NO MENTION by Texasports.com of a 2024 Volleyball Match in Moody, per the school release, today 06/21/24....The 2024 SEC Volleyball Schedule (very different that what the B12 always did).......Of note: 4 of UT's first 5 SEC Conference Matches-on the road......followed by 5 straight SEC Conference Matches in Gregory, followed by 4 straight SEC Conference road matches.....Like they say, Guess it just means more......

Recruiting...will be brief for now.....due to length........got verbals from 3 elite HS prospects/class of 2026 this week....#1 setter (NC) , #1 Outside Hitter/Overall Player Henley Anderson (from Dripping Springs HS), #3 DS (Ohio)......Christmas came very early, this year......
VBall Needs: JE will need to hire one asst. coach for 2024......the female asst. we added in 2023 is taking another volleyball job, appears she could be returning to USA Volleyball? level type VB job, if I am correct......UT Staff, otherwise set

Agree, the first/preseason AVCA 2024 Poll Ranking, likely to have Neb., UT, Wisc., and Stanford as the top 4 to begin the season

HR, Great Question.....I do remember reading that JE was asked spring 2024 about the possibility of having a 2024 fall volleyball match in Moody by one of the media guys (thinking it could have been AAS Danny Davis)
Elliott seemed to suggest they were looking at that possibility (and long before SEC teams began releasing their 2024 schedules piece meal the last month or so), and he said he could foresee a hyped volleyball match with a top opponent at Moody being combined with/could be done in conjunction and around a home football weekend....He indicated if it should work schedule wise, he'd love to do it....But JE indicated it would have to be a volleyball match that would be a guaranteed Moody sell out...........When I read that I personally thought about our Florida football weekend on November 9.....as a great volleyball/football weekend option..........However, Florida volleyball will not be coming to Austin that weekend/or at all in 2024.....
The only other sexy option I see that might work as a combo VB/FB weekend could be our home Arkansas Volleyball date of Friday 10/18/24....combined with our home football weekend game with Georgia on Saturday 10/19/24........Guess we'll see if it happens this year, or if the 2025 season sets up better for a combined volleyball/football extravaganza.... Just not seeing it happen the way JE envisions this year outside of Arkansas VB 10/18-Georgia FB 10/19 option I mentioned above

Believe so with high level of certainty, she is in the recruiting class of 2025-she will sign in November.....and will finish HS next spring at Prestonwood Christian, and will be coming in with a couple more heralded 2025 recruits, as I recall

Henley Anderson 6’3” outside hitter out of Dripping Springs (one of the very top rated players in the country)Genevieve Harris a setter from North Carolina
Emma Cugino libero from Ohio.
All are some of the top players at their positions in the country in this class.
