Glenolden, PA | CableJay Member 2002-Mar-28 7:55 pm Speeds In PaIve had a cable modem for years mostly with comcast and now with RCN. Speed was great the first month and now its slowed way down sometimes slower than dialup. A tech was out and said that my speed, pasted below, was normal. Looking at other speed post I dont find this to be true. Is there a way to actually get a faster service from this company or do you just have to accept what is givin?
722/53 off of speakeasy.net other tests are even slower than this with the occasional burst of nice rates. |

Download DRTCP and change your RWIN to 64240, and reboot. Then run a tweaks test again. When you do that, post the link to the tweaks test. Once the RWIN is changed do another LQ test and again, post the link to it (with your IP hidden). Do you have a router? |

Unhook the router, turn off any firewalls and try going to »192.168.100.1 or »149.112.50.65 - one should work if not try the link at the top of the forum. Once you get your signal levels post them to see if that is the problem. |

I had a tech out here Friday after noon he told me 7k was an excellent send rate. They replaced my modem and it appears Im stuck with this. Its sad they send out techs that dont know enough about cable modems and computers and are also more intrested in looking at what you have on your computer than fixing a problem. Thank you guys for the help Ive been racking my brain for a solution to this slowness. Online games like Unreal Tournament arent as fun when your lagged behind. |
